- Taking a Walk In Quinn's Mind
- Knowledge Is Only a Seed Until You Put It in the Soil. 🌱
Even the finest seeds cannot produce a harvest unless they are sown and carefully nurtured.
Likewise, learning science doesn't improve performance simply because we know it. It improves performance when its principles are translated into practice.
So, the flow looks something like this:
Knowledge → Application → Performance → Knowledge
That's why I don't want to stop at simply acquiring knowledge.
As I read, whether offline or online, I want to immediately put what I learn into practice.
As an instructional designer, I believe my responsibility isn't just to seek knowledge but to test them, apply them, and learn from them.
Reading Learning Science has felt like taking a walk through Clark Quinn's mind.
Along the way, I've started discovering boxes simply titled "Learning."
Goosebumps Season ...
Amazing...
Inside each of those boxes is a learning science insight that's changing how I think.
From my next post onward, In Sha ALLAH, I'll be sharing those insights.
Maybe we can call them "Quinn Seeds" 🌱.
Not because Clark Quinn created every idea in those boxes but because, he brought many of them into the light for me. He helped me see them.
And if you know me, you know I never forget to give flowers to the people who help shape my thinking.
One of my favorite parts of learning has always been creating flashcards and building mental models.
That's where scattered ideas become connected understanding.
I'm excited to start sharing those with you.
I think I've finally reached the meat of this book.
See you in the next one, In Sha ALLAH.

Where this comes from
- Learning Science by Clark Quinn — If you design learning, teach, or train people, you need to understand what is actually happening when someone learns. Learning happens at the neural level, but we design for it at the cognitive level. There’s a lot more in Clark Quinn’s book that I can’t share because of **intellectual property**. Get the book and experience the learning yourself. 📚You Would Love It!
